How We Got Started

We first met in the Fall of 2020 through a graduate pedagogy seminar in the sociology department at UC Berkeley. As the semester came to a close, we realized that we had barely scratched the surface of what teaching meant- to ourselves, to the university, and to a theory of the labor process. Our continuing meetings have since resulted in a special issue in Work and Occupations (now online) and ongoing collaborations with other researchers studying teaching as labor.
